MYTH: Tanning can cure acne
FACT: Tanning can temporarily cover acne but it does not cure acne. Lying out in the sun or tanning booths allows the skin to produce more oil. The oilier your skin gets, the more you are prone to acne break outs. Sun exposure can worsen your acne as you are exposed to ultra violet ray that could cause skin irritation. It increases your risk of skin cancer and causes premature skin aging as well.
MYTH: Acne is a problem of teenagers
FACT: Acne may start to occur in your teenage years this is due to the clogging of pores because of the excess sebum produced by your sebaceous glands during puberty. But it does not mean only teenagers can have acne. Acne can occur after teenage years even up to the age of 85 years of age due to sweating and rubbing that causes irritation and allergies to skin care products that did not suit their skin type.
MYTH: Scrubbing your face with grainy exfoliator makes it clean and clear.
FACT: The skin in your face requires gentle care as it is very sensitive. Too much scrubbing can irritate the skin and cause damage. It is important to exfoliate the dead skin from your face but it should be done not more than twice a week. To avoid break outs and irritation, you should not over do exfoliating your face.
MYTH: Blackheads mean dirty skin:
FACT: Dirty skin does not cause Blackheads. It is caused by the excess oil produced by your glands that filled the opening of the pores along with dead cells thus creates clogging. Washing your face with mild cleanser twice a day and exfoliating your skin twice a week helps reduce blackheads.
MYTH: Popping pimples is OK:
FACT: Popping pimples is never Ok. It could be tempting to do it but it will only allow spreading the bacteria around the skin. The skin shows redness when popping your pimples and causes irritation. Thus creates skin damage or worse, will leave a scar.
MYTH: You have to live and with acne:
FACT: There are a lot of skin care products available in the market such as oral antibiotics and topical antibiotics to treat your acne. You should only be aware of the different skin types these products may suit. For misuse of these products will only worsen your acne instead of helping you to treat it.Instead of helping you to treat your acne, misuse of these products will only worsen your acne.
